About The Position

Armstrong Ambulance is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Massachusetts Certified Paramedic to serve as our Controlled Substance Officer. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accountability, and regulatory compliance of our controlled substance program. The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments. This role is ideal for a paramedic who enjoys process improvement, accountability, and ensuring the highest standards of medication security. Requirements

  • Must hold a current Massachusetts Paramedic certification in good standing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
  • Strong computer proficiency and willingness to learn new software platforms.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of controlled substance handling, documentation, and Massachusetts regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with EMS medication management, quality assurance, or inventory control is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine audits of controlled substance inventory and documentation.
  • Monitor controlled substance usage and investigate discrepancies.
  • Order, receive, secure, and restock controlled substances in accordance with Massachusetts regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and chain of custody documentation.
  • Work closely with Clinical Services leadership to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with the Information Technology department to implement and maintain an electronic controlled substance tracking system.
  • Develop and improve inventory tracking and accountability processes.
  • Assist with inspections, compliance reviews, and internal audits.
  • Generate reports and identify trends to improve medication security and accountability.
