About The Position

ATCO, the Control Centre is where real-time decisions protect people, assets, and the reliable flow of natural gas—24/7. As the Control Room Management, Control Centre Specialist, you’ll lead and continuously elevate our Control Room Management (CRM) Program, setting the standard for alarm performance, competency, fatigue, information, and quality management. In this highly visible role, you’ll mentor a team, translate industry standards into practical performance, and build meaningful KPIs that drive safer, smarter operations. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders and industry partners to help develop and implement best practices, represent Control Centre interests in projects and incident reviews, and identify opportunities to modernize how we work through new technologies and better data—so our controllers have the right information at the right time, every time. Requirements

  • Two (2) year post-secondary diploma or high school diploma (or GED) supplemented with a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible natural gas industry related experience.
  • Aptitude for technology, with strong proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 suite, specifically Teams and SharePoint, with the ability to learn new applications as required
  • Commitment to demonstrating ATCO’s values of safety, integrity, agility, caring, and collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, analytical, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, prioritize, and coordinate work while adhering to safety, policy, and best practice.
  • Experience working under tight deadlines, responding to inquiries and requests in a timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to assist in the writing of reporting documents for internal management and facilitating operational meetings.
  • Passion for learning, initiative, and responsible work habits. Creativity for new solutions and the drive to implement.

Nice To Haves

  • Designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) is preferred.
  • Control Room experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve, implement, optimize and maintain the Control Room Management Program, inclusive of its subprograms: Alarm Management, Competency Management, Fatigue Management, Information Management, Quality Management
  • Provide leadership, mentorship and guide a team of individuals who support the CRM Program
  • Develop and report on Key Performance Indicators to monitor the success of the CRM Program, in relation to industry best practice and published standards
  • Provide recommendations and implement improvements to further the effectiveness of the CRM Program
  • Identify opportunities to further advance the CRM program, through the utilization of modern technologies
  • Support the Supervisor, Control Center and Manager, Control Center & Emergency Communications as required to represent the Control Center interests both internally and externally
  • Provides support to Control Centre Specialist, System Operations as required to ensure continuity of operations
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal and external stakeholder groups
  • Participate in meetings, on committees, and in incident reviews to represent Control Center as required
  • Ability to support a 24/7 workgroup outside of business hours when required
  • Assumes the role of subject matter expert for any CRM-related inquiries
