About The Position

Based in our Sherwood Park office, the Control Centre Operator is responsible for the remote monitoring and safe operation of pipeline systems using a SCADA platform. You will play a critical role in maintaining efficient and reliable operations while ensuring compliance with all safety, security, and environmental regulations. Our Pipeline Operations Control Centre offers a tight knit, supportive environment, where teamwork and collaboration are core. You will work across multiple systems, participate in integration projects, and contribute to improvements in operating procedures and SCADA screen design.

Requirements

  • Post secondary diploma in a related technical field (Chemical Engineering, Power Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering Technology preferred) and/or a Trade Certification (Instrumentation, Millwright, Electrical)
  • 5+ years of related oil, industrial, or pipeline field experience, previous control room experience is an asset.
  • Understanding of SCADA systems and leak detection is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulics and fluid properties.
  • Experience working shift rotations (days and nights) is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • High attention to detail, precision, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and remotely control pipeline systems using SCADA technology.
  • Perform emergency corrective actions when required.
  • Optimize pipeline throughput while minimizing energy consumption and operating costs.
  • Monitor leak detection systems to maintain pipeline integrity.
  • Maintain accurate, timely logs and reports documenting operational activity.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and escalate operational or safety issues.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support additional projects and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a relief operator when required.
