About The Position

As the collective voice of more than 19,000 members, the Directors Guild of America (DGA) empowers directors and their teams to protect and enhance their creative and economic rights and to strengthen their ability to develop meaningful, successful careers. Our members work in film, television, commercials, news, sports, and new media. The DGA seeks a Contracts Coordinator to work in the Guild’s national headquarters in Los Angeles, CA to assist with the Basic Agreement, specifically focused on TV Director issues.

Ability to navigate difficult conversations professionally
Comfort communicating with a wide range of individuals, including member leaders, attorneys, agents, and non-members
Excellent analytical and computer skills; proficiency with Excel
Undergraduate degree

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with union representation helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Contracts team and Executives on enforcement of the Basic Agreement and on various organizing objectives.
Comprehensive understanding of DGA contracts covering employment in the film and television industry.
Evaluating studio-submitted waivers pertaining to a Director’s creative and economic rights.
Outreach to DGA members and studio representatives to discuss employment issues, economic rights & creative rights.
Resolving contract disputes with studio counterparts, including filing contract grievances as necessary.
Develop and drive contract enforcement campaigns.
Support executive team in collective bargaining research and preparation.
Other duties as assigned.
