We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an engaged, proactive, team-oriented Contracts professional to join Viasat's dynamic Contracts team in Carlsbad, CA, to start as soon as possible! This role combines departmental administrative support with exposure to government contracting processes and contract lifecycle activities, serving multiple business areas through a blend of administrative, operational, and entry-level contract responsibilities, including assisting more experienced Contracts team members with strategic tasks such as proposing, negotiating, and administering US government and commercial contracts. You will use your problem-solving skills to help resolve issues by interfacing and flowing contractual information to other departments such as Operations and Finance. You may help represent the government contracts department with order entry-related issues and participate in process improvement initiatives or special projects. You will use your organizational skills to prioritize work assignments. This position is site-based. Site‑based employees work 3+ days (60%+) per week from a Viasat office or work location within a standard five‑day work week. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility. As an Early Career hire, you will participate in our Graduate Development Program during your first 12 months at Viasat. This program is designed to support your transition from university to the workplace through dedicated mentorship, building relationships with your cohort of new grad hires, technical upskilling, soft skills development and more to ensure you’re set up for success as you begin your professional journey with Viasat.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in business or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to proactively identify potential administrative issues that could complicate contract fulfillment and propose mitigating solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to establish a rapport with colleagues and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and administer various responsibilities with internal and external customers while meeting deadlines in a professional and organized manner.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative work experience.
  • Knowledge of US Government contracting regulations (FAR/DFARS) including terms and conditions.
  • Experience in the creation of quotations and proposals.
  • Ability to travel domestically (nominally <5%)
