About The Position

Langan is seeking a Contracts Attorney or Contract Manager to join its collaborative team. This individual will directly support Langan’s General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel and will play a key role in managing a wide range of contract matters across the firm. This role provides the opportunity to support diverse legal needs in an environment that presents evolving challenges and meaningful opportunities for growth. The position is heavily focused on professional services agreements within the A/E/C industry, with the ability to expand into broader in‑house responsibilities as the department continues to evolve. While the preferred location for this role is our corporate headquarters in Parsippany, NJ, or New York City, candidates in other geographies will be considered.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • JD preferred
  • Experience supporting engineering, construction, or architectural firms strongly preferred
  • Experience with professional service agreements, subcontracts, or prime consultant agreements
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience is a plus for non-lawyer candidates
  • Exceptional organization and prioritization skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, analyze, and interpret professional services agreements, subcontract agreements, and other commercial agreements (e.g., access agreements, reliance letters, lender consents, assignments);
  • Prepare redlines, comments, summaries, and recommendations with respect to professional and subcontracted services agreements;
  • Actively negotiate agreements with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Support the General Counsel and Assistant Counsel with managing contracts, contract tracking, and refinement of contracting process;
  • Support contract negotiations and escalate higher‑risk items appropriately;
  • Assist in completion of RFQs, certifications, prequalification forms, legal disclosures, and supplemental questionnaires;
  • Draft legal correspondence such as demand letters for outstanding A/R;
  • Manage filing of mechanic’s liens;
  • Collaborate with internal teams to collect required data, approvals, and business input as needed;
  • Perform other duties as required.
