MITRE Industrial Security Department oversees the operations of classified facilities and ensures the implementation of operative security controls intended for the protection of unclassified and classified national security information (NSI) developed by or entrusted to MITRE as a member of the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). The department applies resources to mitigate risk across operational domains through a continuum of security administration standards, control strategies, and oversight levels that align with corporate needs and expectations.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience
  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Concept of Operations (ConOps).
  • Experience in Special Programs, Program Security, SCI/SAP security, or Collateral Security.
  • Experience conducting and managing inspection preparedness and/or participation in government security inspections.
  • Experience in any of the following; JADE, DISS, SIMS, or Scattered Castles.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: Industrial or Government Security involving Counterintelligence, Personnel Security, Information Security, Information Systems Security, Physical Security, Technical Security, hands-on supervisory Security Leadership, or Project Management.
  • Evident experience implementing related areas of: IC Standards or Directives; DoD Directives, Instructions, Manuals, or Standards, i.e., DoDM 5105.21 and DoDM 5205.07; 32 Code of Federal Regulations Part 117, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM); or related government regulation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to effectively work with all levels of management and key management personnel.
  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI.
  • Must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Developing, implementing, supervising, and maintaining an enterprise security program for multiple Department of War (DoW) and/or Intelligence Community (IC) elements.
  • Protecting information and operations commensurate with the level of classification of the program, e.g., collateral, SCI, SAP, or multi-level.
  • Preparing and maintaining accreditation documentation for each facility under his/her cognizance, including the diagrams, UL 2050 certifications, fixed facility checklists, compartmented area checklists, TEMPEST checklists, and mitigation plans.
  • Using ICD/ICS 705 and the technical specifications to design new secure spaces or develop modifications and construction security plans for secure areas based on their accreditation status and Sponsor requirements.
  • Conducting physical and technical security (e.g., TEMPEST and TSCM) actions and procedures.
  • Properly accounting for, controlling, transmitting, safeguarding, and destroying classified information in accordance with applicable regulations including the DD254.
  • Generating a security education training and awareness program for the technical staff operating in secure spaces within their cognizance.
  • Distributing periodic notifications to indoctrinated staff, emphasizing unauthorized disclosure awareness, classification management, personal reporting requirements, and day-to-day security program execution.
  • Providing support to technical staff planning meetings by helping with coordination and visitor management, e.g., sending and receiving clearances through visitor approval requests (VARs).
  • Ensuring adherence to regulations and guidelines.
  • Fostering strong relationships, providing clear guidance, and acting as a trusted resource for program teams, ensuring security processes align with mission objectives.
