About The Position

Located in Grimsby, the Contractor Sales Representative is a specialized, "one-stop shop" expert, focused exclusively on managing our technical Contractor Sales projects and customer accounts. You will serve as a dedicated specialist who reviews RFQs, estimates, prices, negotiates and secures small-medium sized rebar contracts across Ontario. Once secured, you will also be responsible for and have the ability to project manage specific jobs through to final delivery. In this fast-paced position, turnaround time and rapid response to our customers are critical. You must be highly customer-service focused, with an inherent drive to get customers exactly what they need as quickly and accurately as possible. Armed with an in-depth knowledge of the construction industry, you will ensure seamless execution by keeping projects organized, prioritized, and moving forward to successful completion. You will be responsible for selling Salit's products and services, and for helping to grow our Contractor Sales market share. This position will provide high level customer service to existing and potential customers, reaching business targets through excellent telephone sales and communications skills.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in rebar sales or a related field within the construction industry.
  • 2-3 years in a sales role, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Post-secondary education in construction related programs or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in opportunity qualification, pre-call planning, account development, and time management.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and materials, with a focus on rebar products and lifecycles.
  • Ability to accurately interpret structural drawings.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, under critical deadlines effectively and with accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Goal-oriented with a track record of achieving and exceeding targets.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years of Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Experience in the rebar industry is considered an asset.
  • Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Understand their project requirements and provide personalized service to meet their specific needs.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of our rebar products, including specifications, applications, industry standards and project lifecycles.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitor products and services, and industry developments to offer informed recommendations to customers and the Salit team.
  • Produce detailed project estimates using aSa software for small to medium sized jobs, outlining all product types, quantities and other requirements for pricing purposes.
  • Prepare accurate and competitive proposals for customers.
  • Work closely with the Contractor Sales Manager and broader team to ensure alignment with strategies and targets.
  • Negotiate pricing and scopes of work with customers to achieve profitable agreements.
  • Close sales and ensure customer satisfaction and relationship development.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions and market trends using Salesforce and appropriate reports (i.e. Weekly Sales Report, CTS Log, etc.).
  • Audit and finalize job set-up details for all projects.
  • For specific projects that fit the strategy, fully project manage the job from start to back.
  • Coordinate the outsourcing of detailed shop drawings, or provide own sketches.
  • Create bar lists and enter material lists into aSa for fabrication.
  • Coordinate timelines and delivery schedules to meet customer schedules.
  • Communicate with customers regarding project specific information.
  • Review and confirm technical specifications and requirements of each project.
  • Receive and process all enquiries from customers, contracts and technical departments.
