About The Position

SMG is a nationally recognized professional service organization that provides workplace safety consulting, training, staffing, program planning, and implementation. SMG is seeking a Contractor Rep in San Diego, California. This is a Saturday/Sunday ONLY role. The contractor rep acts as the primary safety liaison between the contractor’s management and the workforce. They are responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations, hazard controls, and protective measures are followed, and for creating a culture of safety awareness.

Requirements

3-5 years of construction and/or maintenance safety experience
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Previous contractor rep experience preferred

Responsibilities

Preparing safety observation reports and sharing them with project stakeholders upon request (e.g., weekly, monthly).
Serving as a liaison between the Project Team and contractor firms during field activities.
Participating in contractor HSE pre-planning meetings as requested.
Participating in contractor event investigations.
Providing technical interpretation of OSHA requirements and other applicable consensus standards for both construction and general industry.
Participate in safety team huddles and continuous improvement activities.
Engage directly with the workforce to influence safety practices, HSE principles, emergency response readiness, and hazard reporting expectations.
Build trusted relationships to promote an interdependent safety culture grounded in accountability and mutual respect.
