Requirements

Journeyman Electrician with Red Seal certification.
Familiarity with pipeline regulatory standards including CER, CSA Z662, and electrical safety codes.
Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in electrical and instrumentation maintenance within the oil & gas, pipeline, or petrochemical industry.
Proven background in troubleshooting, calibration, maintenance, and repair of industrial electrical systems, control systems, and instrumentation.
Strong aptitude for electrical systems, instrumentation calibration, control logic, and troubleshooting.
Proficient with CMMS systems (e.g., Maximo) and electronic documentation.
Experience working with PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, RTUs, and field instrumentation.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, technical manuals, and engineering documentation, continuous learning

Nice To Haves

Dual certification in Instrumentation (or Interprovincial Instrumentation Technician ticket) is a strong asset.
Valid safety certifications such as TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods), WHMIS 2015, H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space Entry & Rescue, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driver abstract.
Physically able to work outdoors, perform climbing/lifting tasks, and respond to after-hours callouts.

Responsibilities

Perform predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on electrical and instrumentation systems at valve sites, pump stations, and block valve locations.
Calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and optimize electrical/electronic and instrumentation equipment, including transmitters, control valves, custody transfer meters, analyzers, liquid samplers and EFM/RTU, PLC/DCS/SCADA field devices, including leak detection systems support.
Collect and deliver NGL and C5+ samples.
Maintain and troubleshoot electrical infrastructure such as heat trace, VFDs, motors, UPS, transformers, switchgear, and associated wiring.
Carry out routine servicing, testing, and inspections of instrumentation, sensors, and control systems to verify proper and safe operation (CER).
Execute electrical and instrumentation work in accordance with pipeline operating procedures and regulatory standards.
Conduct periodic tests of instruments and equipment at pipeline stations to ensure safe and compliant operations (CER).
Continually record and report suction and discharge pressures at pump and compressor stations (CER).
Clearly mark open and closed positions of sectionalizing valves, isolating valves, blow-down valves, and other major station valves (CER).
Participate in daily patrols and operating checks to monitor system health and operational integrity.
Support inspections required under the Maintenance Program, documenting outcomes and initiating corrective action where required.
Assist with integrity support activities, including anomaly investigation, instrumentation verification, and preparation of corrective plans.
Diagnose complex electrical and control issues quickly and accurately, applying root-cause analysis techniques.
Start each day with a safety-first mindset and actively contribute to a safe working environment.
Follow safe work procedures for lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space entry/exit, energized work, and electrical safety standards.
Participate in emergency response activities and support drills and training as required.
Create and update work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records in the company’s CMMS (e.g., Maximo).
Maintain traceability and quality documentation for replaced or repaired electrical/instrumentation components.
Order parts, create job plans, and manage equipment history records.
