Course Description:
KHS 473 Biomechanics (4 credits)- This course examines the physics of human movement. Content areas include the structural mechanics of bone construction, muscle contraction, ligament, and tendon plasticity and elasticity. Sport implement mechanics and the mechanics of environmental conditions (e.g. friction, air, and water resistance) are also explored. Sport performance issues will also be analyzed for mechanical efficiency.
KHS 580 Mechanisms of Skilled Neuromuscular Behavior (3 credits)- This course examines the integration of thought processes with the human body to produce skilled motor performance. Theoretical perspectives and mechanisms of motor behavior are examined and applied to significant systems involving gross motor learning and control in sport and exercise.
KHS 585 Advanced Functional Anatomy & Biomechanics in Exercise Science (3 credits)- In this course, the student will delve into the complex relationships between the structure and function of the human body and how it moves. The course will cover a wide range of topics, including the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system, the mechanics of movement, and the principles of biomechanics. The student will also learn about the various forces that act on the body and how they affect movement and function.

Requirements

• Master's degree in a Kinesiology related field if the colleague meets Required (Tested) Experience requirement.
• Master's degree in an unrelated field can be acceptable if the colleague meets Required (Tested) Experience requirement.
• For colleagues possessing a doctorate in a Kinesiology related discipline, tested experience is not required.
• For colleagues possessing a master's degree in a Kinesiology related discipline, tested experience is required.
• For colleagues possessing an unrelated advanced degree (e.g., master's in education), tested experience is required.
• Tested experience requires 10,000 hours in the human resources industry.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a Kinesiology related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry.
• Online teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate quality student learning through teaching assigned courses.
• Increase student course engagement by providing a positive and regular presence within the course (at least four days per week for online courses) by engaging students through course activities and ongoing availability to provide student support.
• Provide substantive and timely feedback on course assessments, following academic unit and university guidelines, within the Learning Management System, typically within five business days of the assessments’ due dates.
• Respond to student inquiries typically within 24 hours during business days unless otherwise specified at the college level (48 hours on weekends, with closer monitoring if assignments are due during the weekend or on Monday).
• Work collaboratively in a supportive academic environment, partnering with academic advising, career development, and the academic team to ensure each student has the resources they need to succeed.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Follow the university and academic unit’s policies and procedures.
