About The Position

The Contract Specialist I performs developmental through intermediate-level professional acquisition and contracting work supporting the procurement of supplies, services, construction, information technology, and other organizational requirements. Contract Specialist I supports the acquisition lifecycle from requirements review and acquisition planning through solicitation, evaluation, award, administration, modification, and closeout. Assignments are generally routine to moderately complex and are performed under the general direction of a senior contract specialist or contracting officer. Processes assigned contracting actions from initiation through recommendation for award. Uses established policies, procedures, templates, and precedents to complete routine and moderately complex acquisitions. Independently performs recurring tasks while elevating unusual, high-risk, or precedent-setting issues. Develops increasing proficiency in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), agency supplements, contract writing systems, and acquisition documentation. Does not possess authority to obligate the Government unless separately appointed as a contracting officer.

Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized contracting procurement, subcontract administration, purchasing, or acquisition-support experience equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of procurement principles, acquisition planning, market research, solicitation preparation, proposal evaluation, price analysis & contract administration.
  • Ability to interpret and apply established acquisition policies, procedures, contract terms, and regularly guidance.
  • Strong written communication, analytical, organizational, customer-service, and documentation skills.
  • Top Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Federal procurement or contract-writing systems is preferred.
  • Federal acquisition certification, DAWIA training, or equivalent acquisition coursework is preferred.
