Contract Physician Preceptor – Family Medicine Residency Program

Puyallup Tribal Health Authority•Tacoma, WA

About The Position

Puyallup Tribal Health Authority (PTHA) is seeking qualified physicians interested in serving as contract preceptors for its Family Medicine Residency Program. This posting maintains an ongoing pool of interested physicians for current and future opportunities. Assignments depend on program needs, physician availability and qualifications, and mutually agreed-upon terms; applying does not guarantee an assignment or a specific amount of work. The Contract Physician Preceptor provides clinical supervision, education, and mentorship to Family Medicine residents. Through hands-on instruction, clinical guidance, constructive feedback, and role modeling, the preceptor helps residents develop clinical knowledge, decision-making, documentation, and patient care skills. Preceptors may support comprehensive family medicine, preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, and prenatal obstetric care. Experience or willingness to supervise residents during prenatal visits is required; active labor and delivery services are not required. Additional opportunities may include osteopathic manipulative medicine and substance use disorder treatment, depending on the physician’s expertise, clinical privileges, and program needs. The preceptor collaborates with residency leadership and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support resident progress, patient safety, and quality care in alignment with PTHA’s mission and residency program requirements. This is a contract opportunity, not a regular employee position, and contract physicians are not eligible for PTHA employee benefits. Scope of services, scheduling, compensation, and other contractual terms will be discussed with qualified candidates based on program needs and mutual agreement.
