About The Position

The Contract Manager focuses on the delivery of large-scale Renewables projects in the United States, working with Multinational Joint Venture Partner(s) and Contractors to ensure AVG’s/Iberdrola's position is suitably protected in any agreements. This role involves the management of multi-million-dollar offshore delivery contracts in coordination with the supply chain, suppliers, and contractors. The primary goal is to ensure that AVG maintains very effective and value-adding relationships with suppliers, which will enhance our ability to deliver against our business strategy. The Contract Manager may require frequent travel to various locations in the US and overseas during the development, contracting, and delivery of projects (large packages).

Requirements

  • Knowledge of industry standards and offshore regulations.
  • Knowledge of health and safety and environmental legislation associated with construction projects.

  • Good organizational and operational skills with the ability to link this awareness to contractual judgment and decision making.

  • Computer literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft office applications as well as an ability to deal with new software.
  • Long-term planning horizon for all contracting activities relating to the delivery of the business plan.

Responsibilities

  • Develop adequately balanced risk profiles through contract strategy and ongoing contract management for the wind farm.
  • Implement necessary processes and procedures for the development and contracting of each plant.
  • Assist in ensuring projects comply with and follow standard processes and procedures while developing or executing each plant.
  • Participate in the negotiation and completion of all key business contracts, including wind turbine contracts, infrastructure contracts, offshore wind supply contracts, grid connection contracts, power purchase agreements, and sale and purchase agreements.
  • Support project business cases with detailed contractual assessments across all disciplines (e.g., turbines, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, marine, geological, weather, offshore installation, ports, and logistics).
  • Anticipate contractual and commercial risks, opportunities, and threats to the project and implement control measures or actions.
  • Maintain value-adding relationships with all contractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in the coordination of all legal and procurement activities within the project.
  • Assist in monitoring contractor performance to ensure quality, H&S, and cost targets are met, and ensuring the project is implemented in a manner consistent with contract terms and sound commercial and risk management principles.
  • Manage Supply Chain strategy for the project, including securing sufficient manufacturing capacity, devising economically advantageous multi-contract solutions, ensuring procurement best practices and sound risk allocation, and monitoring changes in technology or industry practices.
  • Assist in encouraging supply chain growth where required in appropriate geographical areas.
  • Manage project insurance, including developing and coordinating the project insurance strategy to align with best industry practices for insurance and risk management in the offshore wind sector.
  • Put in place systems to ensure all project activities comply with Company risk and governance policies.
  • Establish necessary committees on a per-project basis to influence direction and ensure knowledge transfer.
