Contract Attorney - NYPD Federal Mentorship
About The Position
KLDiscovery is seeking a highly skilled Contract Attorney to support the NYPD federal monitorship. This role requires exceptional legal research and writing abilities, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment. The attorney will contribute to ongoing monitoring, compliance review, and reporting responsibilities related to the federal oversight process. This is a full-time, onsite contract role with a one-year term. The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting the federal monitorship’s mission and ensuring high-quality legal analysis and reporting.
Requirements
- Licensed in the state of New York is required
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Strong legal research and writing skills (required)
- Ability to work onsite in New York, NY
- Flexibility with work hours; standard schedule is 10 AM–6 PM

Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and draft high-quality memoranda, reports, and written analyses
- Review, analyze, and summarize legal documents, policies, and compliance materials
- Support the monitorship team in evaluating NYPD practices and adherence to federal requirements
- Assist with preparation of written findings, recommendations, and formal reports
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and maintain accurate documentation
- Manage workload effectively while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of accuracy
