About The Position

The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) is seeking to technical experts to assessments with the Laboratory Accreditation Program, including onsite technical expertise and remote assessment activities on a contractual basis. Communication Key Activities Works closely with the SCC personnel to determine the scope of the inspection. Conducts interviews as part of a team, or independently, to assess the competence of personnel. Reviews records to assess evidence of conformity with relevant criteria. Observes the work of personnel to assess the conformity to procedures and application of relevant criteria. Reports to the Lead Inspector on findings and provides recommendations based on evidence. We are seeking individuals who have specific knowledge or expertise in one or more of the following sectors: The following opportunities are available: Testing and Calibration Laboratory Accreditation Programs (ISO/IEC 17025): Electromagnetic Compatibility and Interference (EMC and EMI) Expertise in Electrical/Electronic – An assessor with some of the following expertise/experience: Conductors Conduit and Sprinkler Systems Electrical Rotating Machines Insulators Switches and Controls Transformers Wiring and Related Products Energy Star Energy Efficiency Verification (EEV) Electrical Appliances Forensic Toxicologist French-speaking Forensic assessor with expertise in Forensic Chemistry and Trace Analysis Unprocessed Milk – Microbiologist & Chemist (or a Chemist who can assess micro methods for unprocessed milk) Calibration Proficiency Testing Provider ISO/IEC 17043 Contract assessor and /or technical expert Reference Material Producer ISO/IEC 17034 Contract assessor and /or technical expert

Requirements

  • Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident/Work VISA for the duration of the contract
  • Various: Bilingual imperative, French imperative, English imperative
  • Strong technical, analytical and review skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Sound judgement and evaluation abilities
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both within an assessment team, and with customers
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications, and familiar with information and communication technology (e.g. web-based communications software)
  • Work with limited supervision
  • Effectively represent SCC and follow SCC’s policies and procedures
  • Meet tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Availability to travel within Canada and U.S., occasionally of short notice
  • Work in a variety of industrial, commercial and manufacturing environments
