Assists the Research Program Administrator with the implementation of grant objectives and overall program and fiscal management. This includes ordering research supplies, equipment, and other resources essential to the scientific productivity of the principal investigators (PIs), and performing fiscal budgeting and forecasting. The role serves as a point of contact and resource liaison with vendors, core leaders, and project PIs. It is responsible for assisting with all human resources issues across grant projects and coordinating meetings, web seminars, video conferences, and teleconferences. The position also assists with preparing and presenting monthly and annual reports for PIs and non-competing and competing renewals, and with the completion of project tasks. Travel to national meetings is required. The role may serve as a working supervisor for staff and provides support for pre- and post-award grants management, as well as general administrative and fiscal support. This includes assisting with proposal preparation, budget development, assembly of proposal packages, and electronic submission. The specialist works with PIs and relevant offices to route proposals to external funding agencies, interacts with departments to clarify policies, and assists with the preparation and submission of large proposals. Responsibilities include reviewing solicitation guidelines and University policies to ensure technical and accounting elements meet agency requirements, budgets align with statements of work, costs are allowable, and cost-sharing commitments are attainable and approved. The role operates under time constraints and short deadlines, prepares and edits various documents, and provides fiscal support such as purchase orders, requisitions, travel requests, and p-card reallocation. The position reports to and works in conjunction with the Research Program Administrator.
