About The Position

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Specialist is responsible for planning and executing change management and continuous improvement initiatives across major programs, projects, and the Rail Mechanical and Remanufacturing and Repair Centre divisions. The role focuses on identifying efficiencies, leading multiple change initiatives, and coordinating cross-functional resources to support program enhancements while ensuring a consistent continuous improvement approach is applied across all programs and projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations Management
  • Lean Six Sigma certification required
  • 5+ years of recent experience in the following:
  • Continuous improvement, change management, and project management in a fast-paced environment
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating improvement initiatives using tools and methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, root cause analysis, process design and mapping)
  • Leading teams, coordinating projects, and managing communications, training development, and administrative activities
  • Preparing and delivering presentations and making data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and experience with Visio or mind mapping tools
  • Experience with data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities and deadlines in high-pressure environments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including leadership, collaboration, and facilitation
  • Proven critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Committed to company health and safety

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Change Management (e.g., PROSCI, CCMP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and apply continuous improvement and change management frameworks, methodologies, tools, and templates aligned with regulatory standards.
  • Lead and manage continuous improvement and change management projects from initiation through sustainment, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Establish and guide project teams, defining requirements, deliverables, and effective ways of working.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify objectives, scope, bottlenecks, and process inefficiencies, and implement improvement plans.
  • Provide leadership and oversight in the development and execution of change management and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, deliverables, and competing priorities across multiple initiatives.
  • Promote adoption of continuous improvement and change management practices and support stakeholder intake and engagement processes.
  • Develop and deliver project communications, training, and competency-building initiatives to support change adoption and readiness.
  • Conduct audits, root cause analyses, and change impact assessments to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory standards and support related documentation, including statements of work and resource repositories.
  • Track, measure, and report on project performance, KPIs, and initiative effectiveness using data-driven insights, providing updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Coach leaders, sponsors, and project teams, and establish and support a Change Agent network to promote best practices and sustain change.
  • Coordinate learning events and collaborate across departments and external networks to enhance employee engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Compile, analyze, and report on program and project data to support operational reviews, decision-making, and executive reporting.
  • Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and documentation, and coordinate administrative and audit-related processes, including preparation of materials for meetings and compliance reviews.
