About The Position

Under the supervision of the Director of Innovation, the Continuous Improvement Engineer will play a key role in optimizing operational performance across multiple sites, including quarry extraction, block processing, and finished product manufacturing. The role includes leading initiatives related to machine installation, equipment efficiency, workflow optimization, and plant layout improvements. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement frameworks.
  • Analytical skills and proficiency with tools such as Excel, BI tools, SCADA, or machine monitoring systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience using CAD for process or plant layout optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with industrial machinery and ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and manuals.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license, with availability for frequent travel (~50%) within Quebec and the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in natural stone processing is an asset.
  • Familiarity with machines such as GMM, Simec, Eagle, Graniroc, or CNC stone-cutting machinery is an asset.
  • Participation in multi-site improvement programs is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement improvements to increase machine productivity, efficiency, and uptime.
  • Optimize block processing lines, slab production throughput, and performance of cutting, polishing, and finishing machines.
  • Improve material flow and overall plant layout.
  • Lead or support the installation, calibration, and commissioning of machines such as GMM, Simec, CNC, Eagle, or Graniroc.
  • Ensure operator training and validate equipment performance.
  • Document installation processes and contribute to machine optimization strategies.
  • Manage continuous improvement projects end-to-end, applying Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for management.
  • Develop long-term roadmaps for operational improvements.
  • Work closely with maintenance teams, operators, and the Electromechanical Optimization Specialist.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer and process documentation.
  • Contribute to on-site training and skills development of teams.
