About The Position

The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager drives organizational excellence by identifying inefficiencies and implementing process improvements using methodologies like Lean Six Sigma. This role focuses on increasing productivity, reducing waste, and improving service and process quality. A key responsibility is monitoring the Deduction Schedule to prevent violations or missed deadlines. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential for collaborating with contractor and government personnel at all levels. The CI Manager reports to the S&MA Manager and is expected to work independently across the company to identify improvement opportunities, establish a CI accountable site, lead teams, promote quality and process improvements, manage CI initiatives, and report weekly status updates to NASA and Amentum management. The Deduction Schedule outlines contract deliverables, and failure to meet them incurs financial penalties.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental, Industrial, physical science, quality management, safety and health or related field.
  • At least five years of experience as a Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
  • 10-14 years related experience with data mining and analysis, CI, quality, risk, safety, and performance management.
  • Excellent communication, team building and analytical skills.
  • Broad expertise and knowledge of areas of specialization, contributing to company objectives and principles.
  • Strong people skills to motivate team members and management.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and reason.
  • Strong ability to use data and analysis to make fast data-driven decisions.
  • Capable of using spreadsheets, word processing and standard Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • General knowledge of office routines including scheduling, general office administration, and working knowledge of standard computer software.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain required clearances/badges.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbal and written, in an effective manner.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a Continuous Improvement (CI) program, plan, and share-site demonstrating Quality and Process Excellence for the Amentum SOCS contract.
  • Develop an approach and plan to monitor the Deductions Schedule, giving immediate attention to potential violations.
  • Develop and maintain a Lessons Learned program and share-site for promoting lessons learned and improved processes.
  • Develop and integrate the CI program into the facilities maintenance program utilizing reliability engineering practices and RCM principles.
  • Lead Lessons Learned investigations to uncover process failures and foster process improvements.
  • Work with the Safety and Mission Assurance office to develop quality improvements to current Quality and audit processes.
  • Work with various branches to improve processes that are not meeting Contract deduction guidelines.
  • Produce weekly status reports of ongoing CI initiatives, including potential cost savings.
  • Document methods for verifiable cost savings or process improvements for each CI initiative.
  • Represent Amentum in NASA periodic CI meetings, developing and presenting Quad charts.
  • Chair Monthly Meetings with the SOCS CI management team to present program initiative status.
  • Work with department Managers to ensure team members can dedicate time to initiatives and meet goals.
  • Solicit input from Managers for Green Belt and Black belt certification candidates, provide/facilitate training, and track candidate progress.
  • Provide support to the monthly System Health and Readiness Program (SHARP) teams with updates on CI initiatives.
  • Provide reporting in Management Steering Committee meetings on the overall status of CI program efforts.
  • Work with CI Team leaders to set up site visits, experimental investigations, analyze problems, propose solutions, and provide recommendations.
