About The Position

Taber Extrusions is seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer for its Russellville, AR manufacturing site. This position will report to the Engineering Manager and will be directly involved in process optimization and continuous improvement efforts. The role is responsible for initiating and directing continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing material waste, improving product and process quality, increasing productivity, and other cost improvement efforts to enhance profitability. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive knowledge of aluminum manufacturing and requires daily, hands-on commitment on the production floor to implement and sustain systematic improvements. The role is also part of the organization's succession planning, with potential opportunities for advancement to division and plant leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or related discipline or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Ten (10) years’ manufacturing experience in process/manufacturing engineering is preferred.
  • Specific technical knowledge may be required as applicable.
  • Safety and quality mindset.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Self-motivated and team oriented.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications required.
  • Ability to work as a team.

Responsibilities

  • Works directly with division level and plant operational staff on implementing, growing, and sustaining business processes, providing on-site support and remote monitoring.
  • Develops measurement systems for facility metrics and key process indicators, ensuring alignment with plant strategic goals and maintaining action plans on key metrics.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and implements manufacturing improvement solutions.
  • Initiates, manages, and participates in safety, quality, cost, process control improvement, and delivery projects.
  • Participates in team process development.
  • Supports design and/or sourcing of equipment for manufacturing processes.
  • Develops process and audit documentation such as FMEAs, Control Plans, Capability Studies, Balanced Line Capacity Models, and Flow Analysis.
  • Assesses existing processes for improvement using Lean Manufacturing concepts (Kaizen, TPM, Value Stream Mapping), Six Sigma, designed experiment techniques, and capability studies.
  • Evaluates and recommends implementation of competitive technology.
  • Leads or works with plant maintenance to ensure facility and equipment are maintained and updated according to short and long-term goals.
  • Creates, schedules, and provides training to associates.
  • Follows all city, state, and federal regulatory legislation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
