About The Position

Hexcel is seeking a Continuous Improvement Co-Op at its Pottsville, Pennsylvania location. The role supports productivity and process improvement in a manufacturing environment by applying Lean Manufacturing tools, collaborating with production, engineering, and quality teams, and supporting safety initiatives. The position is intended for candidates studying industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, or a related technology field.

Requirements

• Field of study in industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering, or a related technology field.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with teams to define and solve problems.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Eligible candidates must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
• PC skills.
• AutoCAD or Visio skills.

Responsibilities

• Use Lean Manufacturing tools to increase productivity, including 6S, Visual Workplace, VSM, Kanban, Kaizen, SMED, and mistake-proofing.
• Create Value Stream Maps and identify improvement opportunities, including the eight wastes.
• Work with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify, create, and implement mistake-proofing (Poka Yoke) devices.
• Participate as an active member of Kaizen events to rapidly improve processes.
• Engage in Root Cause Problem Solving teams (RCCA) and execute necessary countermeasures.
• Develop, maintain, and improve Visual Workplace tools.
• Draw or revise plant layouts to increase flow and eliminate waste.
• Support safety initiatives to increase awareness and reduce risk.
