Overview: Schedule: Contingent, as needed (non-benefits eligible) Job Description Summary: Provides emotional and spiritual support to patients, family members, and hospital staff. Serves in a contingent, as-needed basis. Job Description: Essential Functions: Provides direct pastoral care and counseling to patients, families, and staff; provides emotional and spiritual support in times of crisis; uses dynamics of interpersonal relationships and appropriate religious resources to help ease anxiety and to help persons integrate their hospital experience with their view of life. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required. In addition, provides overnight, holiday, and weekend on-site pastoral care on an as-needed basis. Provides informal and formal consultation to hospital staff in the development of emotional and spiritual care plans for patients and their families. Maintains consultative relationships with the community; consults with clergy, congregations, and religious bodies regarding spiritual care of patients and families. Requirements

• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree from an accredited seminary or graduate school, or equivalent ministry experience, preferred
• Completion of one unit of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education, required
• Pastoral care experience in in a diverse setting, required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to respond appropriately to situations with complex emotional and relational dynamics
• OCCASIONALLY: Blood and/or Bodily Fluids, Communicable Diseases and/or Pathogens, Lifting / Carrying: 0-10 lbs, Loud Noises, Pushing / Pulling: 0-25 lbs, Working Outdoors
• FREQUENTLY: Computer skills, Decision Making, Flexing/extending of neck, Hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, Interpreting Data, Problem solving, Repetitive hand/arm use, Sitting
• CONTINUOUSLY: Audible speech, Hearing acuity, Peripheral vision, Seeing – Far/near, Standing, Walking
• Can be an emotionally demanding environment
• Able to perform effectively during stressful situation
• Requires focus and attention to detail while multi-tasking

Nice To Haves

• Completion of four units of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education, preferred
• Ordination, or faith group equivalent, and endorsement by an appropriate ecclesiastical or equivalent organization, or ability to obtain within one year of hire, preferred
• Board certified or board certified eligible in the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, National Association of Jewish Chaplains, preferred
