About The Position

A Chaplain provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones and team members on assigned unit(s) at Orlando Health Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies. This hospital provides specialized care for women's health, including gynecology, obstetrics, high-risk pregnancies, and births. It is a large facility with extensive neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) and is recognized for its innovative in utero surgery for spina bifida. The hospital has received numerous accolades, including being named a Top Teaching Hospital and recognized for its Neonatology program. Requirements

  • Master level theological degree is required, with a Master of Divinity being the preferred degree. Master level equivalent theological degrees may be considered.
  • Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for full time, two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for part-time, one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education for pool. All units must be recognized by ACPE, APC, NACC, NAJC, CPSP, CPE-I, or ICPT.
  • Ordination, licensure, or commissioning and endorsement as a chaplain by a religious body listed in the US Defense Department list of Recognized Religions.
  • Active spiritual faith demonstrated.

  • Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a listing in The Database of Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (ope.ed.gov/dapip/)

Responsibilities

  • Provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones and team members on assigned unit(s).
  • Requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI) for patient treatment, healthcare operations, and interaction with patients, family members, medical records, computer applications, verbal reports, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Documents interventions on the patient chart, including referral source, spiritual assessments, interventions, and follow-up/referral plan.
  • Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in patient rounds, case reviews, ethics consultations, and advanced directive consults.
  • Provides crisis intervention and bereavement support for persons experiencing suffering, tragedy, or loss.
  • Performs requested sacramental services, applicable chapel services, and/or arranges for the provision of these services by community clergy.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
