The primary role of the Engineering function within the Product Development team is to create specifications and designs for new products or improvements and enhancements to existing products. This role works closely with customers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand and define customer needs in these designs. Features are aligned to a timetable and areas of responsibility. Developers may solicit customers for feedback regarding product usability and desired future enhancements. Software Engineers who design, write, and test code for the product should be matched in either Software Engineering Applications or Systems. Product developers who specialize in hardware systems should be matched to Hardware Engineering. The primary objective of the UX Design specialization within the Engineering (PD) Job Family is to design solutions that are informed by user & business needs, aspiring to creating the best experience/product. By conducting research, user behaviors, needs, and preferences are investigated to drive solutions that are aligned with user goals. As well as user needs, the UX design teams assess business needs, technology & design trends to help inform the best product design solution. The process followed is cyclical: design-test-iterate, to ensure the designed solutions are always meeting needs & achieving a high standard of design & innovation. UX design teams collaborate with other product development design/engineering teams across the business to deliver solutions to market, and also closely collaborate with product management teams to ensure the business strategic goals & user goals are met. Performs work in a specialized area of expertise that requires knowledge of fundamental themes, principles, and concepts. Typically requires a university degree or equivalent work experience.
