About The Position

The Content Specialist is responsible for providing guidance and assistance in several facets of the creation of curriculum, including resource acquisition, coaching, and instructional support. This role involves collaborating with program directors and school administration to identify themes and objectives for educational content, and supporting staff in professional development to ensure program quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Youth Development, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year supervisory experience
• Strong experience with curriculum planning for young people (middle school).
• Knowledge of youth development principles and theories.
• Knowledge of Common Core Standards.
• Experience coaching and training with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.
• Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.
• Safe and successful performance, including meeting productivity standards.
• Maintain an understanding of the principles, methods and processes needed to perform the job.
• Attends staff meetings, seminars and in-service training as assigned.
• Demonstrates the ability to complete work in an acceptable manner by the time and/or date established with accuracy, neatness and thoroughness and minimal amount of errors.
• Maintain established departmental policies and procedures including maintain strict confidentiality and adherence to all HIPAA guidelines at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance in development of curriculum.
• Assists in identifying and acquiring lesson resources.
• Observes and coaches Group Leaders and Activity Specialists in establishing best practices for facilitation and lesson plan development.
• Collaborates with Program Director and school administration to identify appropriate themes and objectives for educational content.
• Aids staff in planning, writing and implementing high-quality, content-rich lessons.
• Supports in professional development of staff to ensure program quality.
• Oversees staff implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) by ensuring lesson plans are submitted on time and align with program goals.
• Provides constructive feedback to strengthen lesson quality and promote engaging, hands-on learning experiences for participants.
• Conducts regular observations to assess PBL facilitation, ensure fidelity to the model, and support staff in improving instructional practices.
