About The Position

The Oklahoma Department of Commerce seeks to fill a Content Marketing Specialist position. This position is a full-time position in the state government. Oklahoma Department of Commerce offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a generous benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents. Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, business, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of full-time, professional experience in content management and copywriting.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Ability to think creatively and proactively.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a group setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with WordPress is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead storyteller for the state, crafting compelling narratives that showcase Oklahoma’s unique competitive advantages and the diverse opportunities available to both residents and businesses.
  • Create content that helps position Oklahoma as a premier location for new jobs and investment
  • Create strong messaging promoting Commerce's programs and efforts, and how they positively impact Oklahomans and our communities
  • Grow audiences and increase engagement for existing audiences with high-quality content
  • Write and develop high-quality content for a wide range of print and digital assets, including brochures and promotional materials about Commerce’s programs and Oklahoma’s industries and business advantages.
  • Identify and write content for monthly and quarterly newsletters for multiple audiences (Oklahomans, Oklahoma communities, out-of-state businesses, etc.)
  • Uphold high standards for quality, attention to detail, and brand consistency across all deliverables
  • Develop and manage email lead nurture campaigns from inception to execution.
  • Regularly analyze campaign data (open rates, click rates, etc.) to identify trends and implement adjustments that improve engagement and conversion outcomes.
  • Utilize analytics tools to glean actionable insights, improving content performance, adjusting messaging, timing, and other tactics as needed.
  • Partner with agency leadership, team, and clients to review, update, and refine website copy.
  • Take an active role in implementing these changes to ensure the site remains current and user-friendly.
  • Work alongside the internal team to draft and post content for social media accounts, ensuring all posts align with broader agency objectives and active campaigns.
  • Directly collaborate with agency departments as needed to ensure communication goals are met
