About The Position

The University of Nevada, Reno Extension Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Pesticide Safety Education Program is seeking one part-time, temporary candidate to assist with social media, video, and website content development. This position will report to the Urban IPM and Pesticide Safety Education Program Coordinator and assist with completing public education and outreach deliverables for the grant-funded IPM in Communities project. This is a grant-funded temporary position that will run from June 2026-August 2027. The position may be extended for up to 3 additional years, depending on funding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity with creation of social media content

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
  • Excellent written, graphic, and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in developing written posts, graphics and short format videos for social media and familiarity with software programs for developing them
  • Basic familiarity with website design and coding, experience with writing html code would be preferred
  • Basic knowledge of horticultural and integrated pest management principles, and past experience in horticultural or environmental education and outreach fields

Responsibilities

  • Generating ideas, content, and evergreen posts for social media
  • Assisting our educational technologist in short-form video production, including developing storyboards and compiling photo and video content
  • Creating webpages for our IPM website using the University’s internal web management system, ensuring web-based materials are ADA-compliant.
  • Creating public service announcements for radio spots
  • Coordinating with our IPM team administrative staff to schedule social media posts and manage which ones are boosted
