About The Position

Hebrew Public is a growing network of secular schools committed to academic excellence, racial and economic integration, world language learning, and helping students become global citizens. Philadelphia Hebrew Public (PHP) serves students from more than 40 Philadelphia zip codes, primarily Black and Brown students, through rigorous academics, strong relationships, and a globally minded education. PHP invests in educators through coaching, collaborative planning, professional development, and certification support, and offers eligible teachers salary increases based on classroom impact after their first year. This evergreen opportunity is for creative, talented, student-centered musicians and educators who may be a fit for future Contemporary Music Teacher positions. Applications are reviewed as staffing needs arise, and the Talent Team may contact candidates whose skills and experience align with future opportunities. The teacher inspires students across multiple grade levels to enjoy making music, develop instrumental skills, and build confidence through hands-on, performance-based instruction. Students learn keyboards, drums, and guitar, and develop the skills to perform together in small bands and ensembles. Instruction emphasizes contemporary genres such as hip-hop, R&B, and pop, and practical musicianship including rhythm, collaboration, improvisation, and performance rather than traditional band, orchestral instruction, or primarily music theory. Through rehearsals, collaborative music-making, and school-wide performances, students explore their musical interests, develop their talents, and create music together. Candidates need not speak Hebrew.
