About The Position

Contributes to the organization by overseeing the various tasks of the front desk. The CL Receptionist will assist patients in-person and over-the-phone with checking-in and out, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, processing payments, handling copays, and other tasks while providing exemplary customer service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • One (1) year office experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, twist, and reach.
  • Use care and proper judgment when lifting or carrying items ensuring to utilize proper posture and body mechanics.
  • Classified as having occupational exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Exposure to communicable disease.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of medical office experience preferred.
  • Travel may be required to surrounding HEA offices to provide front desk coverage when needed.
  • Saturday coverage may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all patients and guests with a smile and helpful manner.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, guests, colleagues, and physicians.
  • Provide patients with necessary instructions or directions.
  • Process patient documentation and update patient demographics with accuracy.
  • Triage incoming calls promptly and in a pleasant manner.
  • Review all phone messages and return calls timely and/or direct messages to appropriate person.
  • Verify insurance and determine if prior authorizations or referrals are required for upcoming appointments.
  • Close-out daily batches promptly and with accuracy.
  • Responsible for sterility of lenses and compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Responsible for inventory and stock of lenses.
  • Enter patient’s specifications in the computer, correct codes, charges and if pertinent, discounts, for all lenses and supplies.
  • Train patients in insertion and removal of lenses.
  • Responsible for returns and exchanges.
  • Maintain a clean and organized waiting room and work area.
  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned based on business operational needs.
