About The Position

The Design Consultant plays a vital role in guiding customers to select the most suitable contact lens designs for their patients while upholding quality standards, achieving business objectives, and promoting the company's commitment to exceptional customer service. This role involves advising customers on product features and fitting parameters, helping to enhance contact lens fittings. Additionally, the Design Consultant collaborates with the Operations teams to align strategies and support organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Proficient with the lens design and order entry software
  • Four-year college degree in relevant science or engineering field preferred
  • Two years of contact lens experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of optics, geometry, and contact lens design concepts
  • Contact lens design experience preferred
  • Understand business systems and contact lens design concepts
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills
  • Analytical and data-driven approach to problem-solving, with strong decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for report generation and stakeholder collaboration
  • Basic knowledge of lab equipment and its applications
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently
  • Exceptional customer service skills with a teamwork-oriented mindset.
  • Professional demeanor and a strong work ethic
  • Proficiency in Office 365

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate consultations and process order requests via phone, fax, email, or online order forms.
  • Assist customers in selecting appropriate products based on their specific requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding pricing, warranties, and product details.
  • Provide professional advice to customers (doctors) on contact lens fitting, care, and maintenance, including related solutions and accessories for ocular health.
  • Calculate empirical fitting parameters for new patient orders using measurements obtained by the customer.
  • Suggest revisions of design parameters to alleviate issues relating to fit or vision correction.
  • Communicate with customers, staff, and managers to continuously improve our front-end processes.
  • Assist in validation of new products.
  • Assist in evaluating lens issues.
  • Act as the product expert, offering guidance and support to internal teams such as production and customer service.
  • Maintain and update consultation tools for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Attend industry conferences and events to stay informed on specialty lenses and optical innovations.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and understanding of contact lens design.
  • Collaborate with other departments and promote teamwork within the WAVE Eyecare and OCULUS teams to deliver quality service, productivity, and business results.
  • Support Wave Eye Care customers utilizing WAVE’s topography-based lens design software.
  • Maintain advanced product knowledge, keeping abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and advancements in contact lens design and ophthalmology.
  • Demonstrate and uphold company values and fundamentals in all customer and internal interactions.
