About The Position
The Consumer Loan Underwriter provides service to credit union members and supports consumer loan relationships by handling member and indirect loan applications. The role processes applications from origination through funding, including reviewing and underwriting applications within assigned personal limits and guidelines. The position operates with minimal direct supervision after training and requires adherence to credit union lending policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. The role is based at the Everett and Marysville branches.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently in a non-supervised environment.
- Excellent communication, customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Professional appearance.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly organized, with proven follow-through capabilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and other database software.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability and willingness to interact frequently with the public.
- Background reviews, including criminal and credit histories, are conducted prior to selection.
Nice To Haves
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
- Familiarity with credit union systems preferred.
- Two or more years of lending background preferred.
Responsibilities
- Input loan applications and review and process online applications.
- Read and understand credit reports.
- Underwrite consumer loans within assigned personal limits and guidelines.
- Scan loan documents into the imaging system.
- Follow lending and credit union policies and procedures.
- Represent the credit union courteously, honestly, and professionally while maintaining confidentiality of member data.
- Work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadline and time constraints.
- Multitask, set priorities, pay attention to detail, meet deadlines, and stay organized.
- Follow consumer loan rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
