About The Position

Leaders Credit Union is hiring a Consumer Lending Analyst to join their Lending team. This role involves both underwriting consumer loan applications and serving as a system administrator for their Loan Origination System (LOS). The analyst will make decisions on consumer loan applications within their delegated authority and will also be responsible for administering and continuously improving the LOS. Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of similar or related experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, economics, or any similar or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
  • Must maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers.
  • Must have very strong communication skills with the ability to explain decisions and reasoning behind those decisions.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of the credit union’s loan standards and governmental regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a Consumer Lending Underwriter preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with a Loan Origination System strongly preferred.
  • Prior system administrator, configuration, or "power user" experience is a significant plus.
  • Comfort with data and reporting tools preferred.
  • A process-improvement mindset - someone who notices friction in a workflow and proactively brings a solution, not just the problem.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and evaluating loan documents from the branch network to ensure all loans are decisioned in accordance with Credit Union lending policies.
  • Evaluating the earnings and financial condition of applicants to make decisions to approve, counter, decline, or request additional information.
  • Reviewing loan documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Recording loan denials with supporting data.
  • Maintaining records of approved and denied applications, making notes for any denials or exceptions.
  • Communicating directly with dealer partners and potential members to facilitate the approval process.
  • Serving as a system administrator for the LOS, including day-to-day maintenance, user access and permissions, workflow and queue configuration, template management, and resolution of system issues in partnership with IT and the LOS vendor.
  • Staying informed about all LOS releases, enhancements, and product updates, testing new functionality, and translating updates into actionable recommendations.
  • Maintaining automated decisioning logic and recommending refinements to decision rules, score cuts, stipulations, cross-sell offers, and third-party integrations.
  • Recommending improvements to underwriting criteria, lending policy execution within the system, and overall loan workflow.
  • Leading User Acceptance Testing and change management for approved system enhancements, integrations, and new product rollouts.
  • Acting as the escalation point for LOS questions from underwriters, processors, and branch staff.
  • Serving as the internal subject-matter expert when working with LOS support and vendor partners.
