About The Position

The Consumer Card Product Director has responsibility for P&L of the credit card portfolio management including strategy development, program execution, and profit optimization. This role involves P&L responsibility for the Credit Card portfolio, including analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for profitable growth. The Director will review and modify existing credit card product features and benefits to maximize profitability and meet customer needs. They will work closely with Marketing for effective communication and portfolio metric improvement, and oversee new program development with key business partners such as Marketing, Sales Ops, Phone Bank, Risk, Legal, and Compliance. The role also includes evaluating product performance, recommending strategy changes, and ensuring effective implementation of account origination and portfolio strategies with partners like Risk Administration, Underwriting, Compliance, Legal, Ops, Phone Bank, and Enterprise Risk. The Director is accountable for risk management, compliance, and audit performance, adhering to bank policies and legal/regulatory requirements, and establishing effective controls. If applicable, they will ensure staff is trained and motivated in risk management principles and maintain current knowledge of risk-related credit card changes. This leadership role involves managing a function, potentially including hiring, terminations, salary adjustments, disciplinary actions, and establishing group strategy. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of credit card related oversight and experience.
  • Experience working with other 3rd party credit card partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with and understanding of First Data platforms preferred.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills, adept at influencing stakeholders through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills; can quickly form strong relationships through a shared vision and mutual trust
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze situations and risks, determine paths of action, and make recommendations to remediate issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements as they pertain to aforementioned segment areas.

Responsibilities

  • P&L responsibility for the Credit Card portfolio.
  • Responsible for analysis of the credit card portfolio and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to drive profitable growth.
  • Reviews and modifies existing credit card product features and benefits to maximize profitability and meet customer needs.
  • Works closely with Marketing to ensure effective communication of credit card product to customers and to improve portfolio metrics.
  • Oversees all tasks associated with new program development working closely with key business partners (i.e. Marketing, Sales Ops, Phone Bank, Risk, Legal, Compliance, etc.) to introduce and sell the program on an ongoing basis.
  • Evaluates product performance and recommend changes in the product or marketing strategy to optimize program performance.
  • Works closely with Risk Administration, Underwriting, Compliance, Legal, Ops, Phone Bank, and Enterprise Risk to ensure effective implementation of account origination and portfolio strategies.
  • Accountable for risk management, compliance and audit performance for area(s) of responsibility whether a supervisor, manager or individual contributor.
  • Adheres to bank policies and procedures and complies with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes or works with management to develop effective controls and processes to ensure risks are measured, monitored and controlled and compliance requirements are adhered to on an on-going basis.
  • If applicable, ensures staff is properly trained, provided with appropriate resources and motivated to adhere to risk management principles.
  • Maintains current knowledge of risk-related credit card changes that may impact assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Lead/ coach; counsel; manage a function; may be responsible for hiring, terminations, salary adjustments and/or disciplinary actions; establishes/communicates group strategy.
