About The Position

The Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist’s primary focus is to monitor bankruptcy accounts in assigned portfolio of loans to ensure appropriate action is administered to comply with client and bankruptcy rules and regulations. The Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist 1 is responsible for the specific duties listed below. Your specific duties will include: Review court dockets and case information via electronic case monitoring systems to promptly identify required attorney actions and refer cases to local counsel as necessary. Track payment delinquencies, review NDC (National Bankruptcy Data Center) and Chapter 13 Trustee websites to determine the status of claims. Review Chapter 13/11 bankruptcy plans to evaluate proposed treatments. Identify inadequate plan provisions, including issues with asset valuation, interest rates, and delinquencies. Negotiate inadequate plan provisions with relevant parties to reach an amicable resolution without resorting to litigation. Review, analyze, and take appropriate action on all incoming mail and legal documents relevant to clients and assigned files. Respond promptly to routine inquiries and court notifications from clients, debtors, debtor attorneys, vendors, and internal departments.

Requirements

  • Must be bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish) with excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with industry software such as SoftPro, QuickBooks, and standard office productivity tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflows effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma with 3–5 years of verifiable work experience (a Bachelor’s Degree may be considered in lieu of work experience).
  • 1+ years of Consumer Bankruptcy or Consumer Lending experience is strongly preferred.
