Consulting Utility Forester

This role involves successfully contributing to all aspects of vegetation management planning and analysis, utilizing innovative technology and practices to help major electric utility providers deliver safe and reliable power and maintain national security. The position requires inspecting and assessing vegetation in right-of-ways for compliance standards and construction work plans, identifying tree and brush control work, and making protection zone recommendations. Data collection and documentation using hand-held computers, assessing terrain, habitat, and environmental conditions, and supporting Integrated Vegetation Management (IVM) projects are key responsibilities. The role also involves coordinating with Project Managers, Planners, and Vegetation Crews to create customized solutions.
Requirements
- Love of the outdoors and the ability to work and hike in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
- Ability to read and follow GIS data and maps; ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated expertise in problem-solving, meeting deadlines, and technical innovation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Availability and desire to travel throughout the utility service area.
- Valid Driver’s License with clean DMV driving record and ability to drive and operate a 4x4 vehicle.
- Ability to identify local tree species & growth rates.
- Organizational skills; working knowledge of computers and programs, file creation, manipulation, and sharing.

- Utility Right of way vegetation experience, tree crew foreman experience or other related experience
- ISA certification, ISA Utility Specialist
