About The Position

The Leidos NISC IV team is seeking a dynamic Senior Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team. The position will be supporting the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team with the goal of providing outstanding customer service to FAA customers receiving NISC services. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the NISC IV mission. The NISC IV contract will provide technical instructions for new hire Electronics personnel with the requisite skills required to perform fiber optics projects assigned to Engineering Services. This is a remote consulting position and can be located anywhere in the US with the requirement to travel to Lakeland, FL or where needed to teach classes.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree
• 12+ years of working knowledge of FAA electrical and electronics systems.
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications.
• Ability to use the Internet as a gathering and communicating tool.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in the written and verbal form.
• Must accomplish clear and concise general and technical writing and tactfully coordinate with a variety of project stake holders, peers and management levels.
• Must have a basic knowledge of multiple disciplines regarding their general requirements for typical FAA electrical and electronics systems.

Responsibilities

• Providing classroom instruction to students through lecture, demonstration, and laboratory exercises, handouts, responding to questions, and testing.
• Assisting students in developing the fundamental skills required to serve as an entry-level fiber optic cable installer or technician.
• Instructing fundamental principles of fiber optic technology, including knowledge of different fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and how to use specialized tools to connect and activate fiber optic networks.
• Teaching electronic and fiber optic fundamental safety including but not limited PPE, handling cables, proper handling of various chemicals, cleaners, and adhesives, adhering to industry standards, and ensuring proper training to avoid injury and damage.
• Provide classroom and laboratory instruction to students.
