About The Position

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is currently looking for a talented and self-motivated Consulting Civil Engineer Lead to join our Houston Westchase Office. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader, responsible for leading both high-performing teams and complex Civil, Infrastructure, power, and industrial projects, while serving as a recognized technical Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum 20 years of Civil Engineering experience in the industrial industry.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency.
  • Experience with grading and Earthwork site design.
  • Experience with stormwater drainage analysis utilizing Autodesk Storm & Sanitary Analysis (SSA), Stormwater Detention Pond analysis, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
  • Environmental Permitting knowledge (NPDES, wetlands, 404, Phase 1 ESA).
  • Site layout experience (parking, access, roadways, ADA compatibility, vehicle turning analysis).
  • Experience with Roadway / Paving design & specifications.
  • Surveying knowledge (topographical, boundary, plats, coordinate systems).
  • Geotechnical knowledge (sitework prep, roadway / heavy haul paving design) security gate / fencing design.
  • Estimating quantities for construction.
  • Excellent Communication and Presentation Skills (Verbal and Written).
  • Must possess current permanent authorization to work in the United States for any employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Performs Civil Engineering duties in the design, analysis, and preparation of calculations, drawings, and specifications for use on specific projects.
  • Performs and prepares civil site designs and modifications at various industrial facilities located throughout the United States.
  • Serves as a Lead Civil Engineer on projects, reviewing and approving scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assigns tasks and directs engineers, designers, and administrative staff.
  • Coordinates with multiple disciplines to participate in the development of plans and the basis of design documents to guide construction activities.
  • Interfaces with customers, officials, suppliers, and contractors throughout all phases of planning, design, and construction.
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.
  • Prepares conceptual and detailed design sketches, engineering calculations, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Apply basic technical principles, theories, standards, and concepts in development of engineering design packages.
  • Considers construction costs, government regulations, potential environmental hazards, and other factors in planning stages and risk analysis.
  • Understands and applies applicable federal, state, and local codes and industry specific standards for engineering projects.
  • Understand and be able to determine applicability of local, state, and international building codes.
  • Presents technical information to peers or other personnel for review, to implement standards, or operating procedures.
