About The Position

Little, a nationally recognized "Best Firm to Work For" and one of the nation’s most progressive design firms, is seeking a Lead Civil Engineer with a positive, collaborative work style for its Land Studio in Charlotte, NC. The selected individual will collaborate directly with internal engineers, landscape architects, and architects on diverse project types including Healthcare, Civic, K-12, Higher Education, Commercial/Retail, and Office. Responsibilities include performing site visits, preparing due diligence reports, creating construction drawings with calculation packages, managing permitting through local jurisdictions, and handling construction administration.

Requirements

  • Civil Engineer degree
  • Registered professional engineer
  • 10+ years of experience in the production of construction documents
  • Excellent AutoCAD, Civil 3D, StormCAD, WaterCAD, and/or other Engineering software skills
  • Talented Engineer with experience designing for a broad range of clients
  • Resourceful and creative problem solver
  • Empathetic listener, genuinely interested in people, and able to build consensus among clients and teammates
  • Great communicator both verbally and graphically
  • Able to simplify complex ideas and relate them in a way that people understand
  • Able to understand what other people are really saying
  • Enjoy doing research and documenting permit processes for new jurisdictions
  • Relate to permitting authorities
  • Passionate about design and have a strong attention to detail
  • Organized and a good time manager
  • Enjoy working directly with clients and the project team for projects throughout the Carolinas and beyond

Responsibilities

  • Perform site visits
  • Prepare due diligence reports
  • Prepare construction drawings, including calculating packages
  • Permit through local jurisdictions
  • Construction administration
  • Form and lead project teams to support a positive, fun and high performing work environment
  • Manage projects (or a group of projects) from concept design through design development and final design
  • Provide technical leadership for projects as a mentor to all levels of the team
  • Actively involved in monitoring the budget, schedule, and quality of projects within the team
  • Maintain positive business relationships with both internal and external clients
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams of landscape architects, architects and engineers
  • Steward the entire project journey from concept through construction administration
