We’re rapidly expanding across these industries, delivering high-impact consulting engagements that combine advanced simulations with real-world problem solving to create measurable value for our customers. We’re seeking an experienced Application Engineering Consultant with a strong background in chemical engineering and/or chemistry. You will join our Project Delivery Team, whose members interface directly with existing and prospective clients. You’ll be responsible for delivering consulting projects, identifying new opportunities within existing clients, presenting OLI’s technology in sales meetings, training new clients, and providing application support to OLI’s client base. You’ll also work with Product Development, Research, and Digital Transformation to improve our technology offering.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English (speaking and technical writing), other languages a bonus
  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in chemical engineering, chemistry, or natural science (required)
  • At least five (5) years’ experience working as a Chemical Engineer in one of the following industries: Upstream or Midstream Oil and Gas, Metals and Mining, Wastewater Treatment, or Power Generation. (required).
  • At least three (3) years’ experience using and applying chemistry-based process simulation software (highly desirable).
  • Ability to effectively engage clients virtually (phone/web/on-site)
  • Willing to travel up to 25%, including international travel

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong presentation skills
  • Computer literacy in Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM tools (Salesforce)
  • Process Simulation Experience in one or more: OLI Studio, OLI Flowsheet: ESP, Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, UniSim, Petro-SIM, VMGSim, HTRI, AVEVA PRO/II, AVEVA DYNSIM CHEMCAD, gPROMS, PIPESIM, OLGA, SysCAD, METSIM, ProMax, ProTreat
  • Ability to work independently with superior initiative
  • Entrepreneurial spirit to develop solutions using OLI software products to solve customer problems
  • Knowledge of asset life cycle, maintenance maturity levels, and other Operational Excellence programs/concepts
  • Demonstrated use of AI tools in daily technical work; curiosity about applying AI to expand engineering capabilities, uncover new ways to generate insights from simulation results against operating data and unit history, and improve speed of deliverables (reports, calculations, insights, etc.)
  • Desirable: an understanding of software development, particularly Python programming and APIs.

  • Have field experience. The candidate has run process units, supported process units, or serviced process units.

Responsibilities

  • Help the team close process consulting opportunities.
  • Perform the consulting work and deliver the results.
  • Identify areas/opportunities for additional consulting services and/or software solutions (desktop and cloud applications).
  • Lead consulting engagements as Technical Lead, owning delivery quality, timelines, and technical direction
  • Provide technical oversight and validation of project work, ensuring consistency with OLI methodologies
  • Tackle complex customer challenges involving corrosion, water chemistry, and process systems.
  • Manage and guide contractor resources to scale project execution
  • Partner with Sales to shape and advance consulting-led opportunities that drive software adoption and expansion
  • Provide feedback to Product and Commercial teams based on customer engagements to improve offerings and go-to-market strategy
  • Provide first-line support to clients; and help clients extract more value from the software.
  • Serve as the technical liaison for assigned accounts, building client confidence in OLI solutions, and maximizing the client experience.
  • Develop novel application solutions to address new market opportunities with standard components for ease of deployment.
  • Translate consulting work into repeatable, scalable solutions, including cloud-based and API-driven applications
  • Deliver training workshops and seminars to clients on-site and remotely.
