About The Position

We are seeking a Consulting Actuary specializing in Workers’ Compensation to join our growing team. This role is critical in delivering actuarial expertise and strategic support across client engagements in the Workers’ Compensation space. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge, regulatory familiarity, and practical experience working with insurance carriers and related stakeholders. You will collaborate with Practice Leaders and clients to deliver data-driven insights, develop actuarial models, and support regulatory and business strategy initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of actuarial experience with a focus on Workers’ Compensation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related discipline
  • Fellow or ACAS preferred; or Credit for the following Exams/Requirements: Exam 1, Exam 2, VEE Accounting and Finance, VEE Economics, Exam 3F, OC1, OC2, MAS-1, MAS-II, Course on Professionalism, Exam 5, and actively pursuing the ACAS designation
  • Experience with insurance data, calculating actuarial adjustments to the data, calculating rate level indications
  • Knowledge of Commercial and Personal Lines of Business and State Rate & Rule Filing requirements
  • Proficient in Excel, Access, SQL

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Reinsurance, Predictive Modeling and Reserving is a plus
  • Background with other lines of business (Personal and/or Commercial Lines) and familiarity with Large Deductible Pricing methods is also desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Property & Casualty pricing studies and recommendations with a focus on Workers’ Compensation lines.
  • Apply actuarial methods to support rate development, trend analysis, loss cost evaluations, and portfolio profitability.
  • Support the development and submission of rate, rule, and form filings in coordination with internal compliance and regulatory teams.
  • Assist clients with addressing state DOI rate related interrogatories
  • Translate complex actuarial findings into strategic insights and clear, actionable recommendations for both internal and client stakeholders.
  • Prepare client-ready reports, presentations, and documentation to support decision-making.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, participating in meetings, presenting findings, and supporting ongoing actuarial and consulting needs.
  • Build long-term relationships with clients, maintaining a strong understanding of their goals and operational environments.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including analysts, project managers, and regulatory consultants.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Workers’ Compensation trends, legislative changes, and actuarial best practices.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and process improvement initiatives.
