About The Position

Richmond National is seeking an Actuary to join its growing team and play a critical role in expanding the actuarial department. Reporting directly to the Chief Actuarial Officer, the Actuary will contribute to business decisions through actuarial analysis and forecasting to support profit and growth. The role focuses primarily on Commercial Property and includes pricing, reserving, analysis of rates and results, and programming to automate actuarial and data-related tasks. The position is on-site at the company’s Glen Allen, Virginia office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or a related subject.
At least 3 years of relevant actuarial experience.
Prior actuarial experience supporting property lines.
ACAS designation or be very close to obtaining ACAS.
Proven programming experience with Python, R, Java, or C; Python is preferred.
Property and casualty experience.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Excellent analytical ability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excess and surplus lines experience.

Responsibilities

Conduct ongoing analyses of rates and results, primarily focused on the Commercial Property line of business.
Perform pricing and reserving for Commercial Property.
Monitor rate changes.
Program and automate actuarial and data-related tasks.
Share data with the executive team and staff underwriters.
Work cross-functionally to support development of internal tools and products.
Respond to ad hoc requests from product line and executive leaders.
Perform other actuarial work as assigned.
