About The Position

The Consulting Actuary is a senior member of the Life Technology Solutions Professional Services team, responsible for leading client engagements, supporting delivery excellence, and contributing to the continued growth of the practice. This role combines actuarial expertise with a strong focus on technology-enabled transformation in the life insurance industry, working closely with clients to modernize actuarial processes, improve operational effectiveness, and support the adoption of advanced analytics and next-generation platforms. The role also involves advising clients on modernizing actuarial workflows and improving efficiency through technology and data integration, and supporting the evolution of scalable, production-ready solutions that enhance actuarial and risk capabilities. The individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients on actuarial transformation and operating model improvement.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, or a similar mathematical or quantitative program of study
  • Attainment of the FSA designation with the Society of Actuaries (SOA)
  • Minimum of 10 years of full-time work experience in an actuarial role, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Experience in financial modeling using actuarial modeling software (i.e. Integrate, MG-ALFA, Excel)
  • Strong quantitative background
  • SAS proficiency
  • Insurance product modeling experience and MG-ALFA experience, in particular
  • Exceptional oral, written, and presentation skills and the ability to convey complex ideas to clients and team members.
  • Ability to analyze and apply creative problem solving, both independently and within a team
  • Self-motivated individual with a sense of intellectual curiosity and a results-oriented work ethic
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, prioritizing and meeting deadlines, while maintaining appropriate focus on details
  • Demonstration of a consulting mindset and approach to working with clients to deliver exceptional value and service.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to client engagements focused on actuarial transformation and technology implementation.
  • Support business development activities including proposals, client discussions, and solution design.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in actuarial modernization, operating model design, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Mentor and develop junior actuarial and technical staff.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and internal development teams to ensure solutions meet market needs.
  • Contribute to practice growth, knowledge sharing, and internal capability development.
  • Stay current with industry trends in actuarial practice, technology, and advanced analytics.
  • Advise clients on modernizing actuarial workflows and improving efficiency through technology and data integration.
  • Support the evolution of scalable, production-ready solutions that enhance actuarial and risk capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on actuarial transformation and operating model improvement.
  • Thought leadership in the industry and representing Milliman at conferences/events, and in white papers to share forward-thinking ideas.
  • Develop delegation, project management, and leadership skills if growth into a people management role is desired.
