About The Position

Community Howard Regional Health is seeking Consultation Nurses (Rapid Response/Code Blue RNs) to enhance patient safety and critical care response capabilities. This role involves immediate intervention during critical patient events under standardized protocols, providing rapid, expert assessments and care delivery. The Consultation Nurse will respond to patients showing signs of clinical deterioration, monitor and round on patients, and serve as an educational mentor for nurses. To maintain critical care skills, Consultation Nurses will also work PRN in the ICU approximately two shifts per six-week schedule.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (NLN, CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA) or three years of related professional nursing experience.
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana.
Minimum of 1 year of critical care experience required.
ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certified.
Experience with CRRT, IABP, ICP management required.
Demonstration of performance consistent with professional standards of practice, care, the Nurse Practice Act and the mission and goals of Community Health Network.
Demonstration of skills in collaboration, delegation, negotiation and management of resources.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
3+ years of critical care experience strongly preferred.
2+ years of precepting experience preferred.
CCRN certification or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.
EPIC experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Respond to situations in the hospital where a patient is showing signs of clinical deterioration.
Monitor, evaluate, and round on all patients within the hospital.
Serve as an educational mentor and teaching resource for inexperienced nurses.
Work PRN in the ICU approximately two shifts per six-week schedule to maintain critical care nursing skills.
