About The Position

This is a 2-year contract of employment from date of hire. UCSF Enterprise Strategy & Transformation (EST) seeks an exceptional professional to join our highly skilled and engaged team providing internal consulting services to our dynamic, mission-driven institution. The Consultant provides strategic facilitation and coordination support for internal initiatives, helping leaders and teams plan, prioritize, and execute strategy, process improvement, and digital transformation efforts. The EST staff enjoy challenging and impactful project work, professional development opportunities, and an engaging work environment. Consultant Use and apply management consulting skills to deliver programs and projects that involve multiple organizations and stakeholders. Effectively support moderate to complex initiatives and programs, including scheduling, facilitation, documentation, and communications. Support resolution of a wide range of consulting issues and situations. Receive minimal instruction on planning, researching, and resolving issues, with general instructions and guidance provided on new assignments and/or more unique situations. Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Department Overview The UCSF Enterprise Strategy and Transformation (EST) Office is an internal business advisory unit of skilled professionals who provide consulting services to the UCSF campus. The EST works with central leaders, the schools, and department staff to implement both campus-wide and unit-specific operational improvements. The EST consulting services include strategic planning, business process improvement, systems implementations and organizational restructuring. The EST provides these services leveraging skills in project management, group facilitation, change management, and Lean transformation. EST staff possess sound strategic thinking and consulting skills that guide the organization towards collaboratively identified, workable solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Organizational Change, Business Administration or related area and 3-5 years relevant experience and/ or equivalent experience/training.
• Demonstrated knowledge of project proposals and project plans.
• Demonstrates analytical, problem solving, project planning and implementation skills.
• Demonstrated of project management principles, theories and concepts.
• Ability to assess needs and work collaboratively with team to design solutions to meet those needs.
• Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates ability to learn quickly, reason, synthesize and generalize based on information obtained.
• Ability to coach, facilitate and influence individuals on client teams.
• Skilled in facilitation, relationship building, and consulting.
• Ability to focus on priorities, strategies and vision

Nice To Haves

• 4-7 years of relevant experience in universities or management consulting.
• Uses AI to elevate domain expertise, producing higher-quality insights and reusable patterns that raise the standard of work for others.
• Has knowledge and experience in the Systems Development Life Cycle to assess, design and implement new technology systems.
• Has knowledge and experience in Lean Methodology to assess, design and implement organizational improvements.

Responsibilities

• Independently selects methods and techniques for obtaining appropriate operational, program and initiaitive objectives.
• Provides collaborative consultation, and assists with project management on multi-faceted problems to achieve strategically aligned solutions. Assists with facilitating project teams. Supports work of cross functional teams and may lead some teams.
• Understands business needs, performs analyses, and ensures that solutions, both technical and non-technical, can support those needs. Assesses medium to complex situations and works with clients and manager to address identified issues, develop recommendations, and implement solutions in alignment with strategic goals and objectives. Creates project plans, reports, presentations and other deliverables. Coordinates project meetings.
• Understands project governance structure and assist with managing it.
