About The Position

Join ERM's Sustainable Finance team and help shape responsible development by supporting world-class environmental and ESG projects across the globe. ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant, Project Finance in Washington DC, Boston, MA or Annapolis, MD, Charlotte, NC, Manhattan, NY to join our Sustainable Finance team. In this role, you will support clients in evaluating and managing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks and opportunities across complex domestic and international projects, with a particular focus on Latin America. Working alongside leading development finance institutions such as the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and International Finance Corporation (IFC), you will help deliver sustainable outcomes for projects spanning renewable energy, infrastructure, extractive industries, and low-carbon development. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Finance, Sustainable Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years (3–5+ years preferred) of consulting or related professional experience supporting sustainable finance, ESG, environmental management, international development, or similar fields.
  • Understanding of sustainability standards and frameworks such as: IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles IV, World Bank Environmental and Social Framework.
  • Experience with Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for development finance institutions.
  • Understanding of regulatory environments and environmental governance frameworks in the United States and/or Latin America.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively within project teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work products.
  • Driver's License Required: This position requires a valid driver's license and/or the ability to operate a company vehicle due to the nature of job duties, which include frequent travel to various client locations across a large geographical area.

Responsibilities

  • Support environmental and biodiversity due diligence, monitoring, and compliance activities for international and domestic development projects.
  • Contribute to environmental and social impact assessments, including preparation of technical analyses and reports.
  • Conduct literature reviews, data analysis, field investigations, and technical research to support project delivery.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, recommendations, and client deliverables that meet ERM’s standards for quality, budget, and schedule.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across ERM’s global Sustainable Finance network.
  • Support project managers in delivering multiple concurrent projects in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Participate in international travel and field assignments, including work in remote locations when required.
