Sr Consultant, Finance - P&C Finance The P&C Finance department helps leaders make sharper business decisions by connecting financial insight to the levers that shape business performance. For this opening, the work is centered establishing the frameworks that enable effective expense management like business-case development, benefit realization, and governance. This Sr Consultant, Finance role will report directly to the VP of P&C Finance Transformation. It is a strong opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys pairing analytical rigor with strategic influence. The position is designed for someone who can evaluate complex expense drivers, build credible business cases, and help leaders make disciplined decisions that improve cost effectiveness and performance across the P&C organization. As a Senior Consultant, you'll work with financial and business unit leadership on the most complex cross-functions projects, processes, systems and other activities that support strategic financial and corporate initiatives. You'll be as a recognized technical specialist and plan, coordinate and complete financial projects that impact multiple businesses/products or functional Finance areas.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, actuarial science, or a related analytical field is preferred.
Experience in finance, FP&A, expense management, or a closely related analytical role, ideally in a complex business environment.
Demonstrated ability to build business cases, analyze cost drivers, and support decisions tied to reducing costs or improving financial performance.
Understanding of the P&C business will be especially valuable.
Ability to work across business partners, synthesize issues clearly, and influence decisions with insight and sound judgment.
Undergraduate studies in finance, accounting, statistics or related subject area.
Eight years of related work experience in insurance and/or financial services industry.
Project management experience.
Technical expertise in advance financial principles and concepts.
Advanced knowledge of accounting, statistics, finance, insurance/financial services industry, company organizational structure, regulatory requirements and financial analysis techniques.
Financial project management practices and methodologies.
Broad-based knowledge of multiple financial subject areas.
Advanced communication skills for verbal and written contact; presentation skills.
Project management concepts and techniques.
Ability to analyze financial and statistical data and make recommendations for pivotal initiatives.
Ability to operate a personal computer with various financial and business software applications.

Nice To Haves

Graduate level studies with advanced degree preferred.
Technical industry coursework or certifications, e.g., CPCU, CPA, NASD, etc. desirable.

Responsibilities

Lead analysis that supports strategic decisions related to expense management, cost optimization, and business-case development.
Support governance and decision-making processes by bringing structure, financial discipline, and clear recommendations to investment or cost-related choices.
Help define and monitor performance expectations through strong financial analysis, KPI thinking, and a focus on accountability for results.
Bring an outside-in mindset by connecting financial analysis to broader business context, emerging risks, and opportunities that may affect performance.
Contribute to planning and forecasting conversations with timely analysis, clear commentary, and financially grounded perspectives that help leaders act with confidence.
Develops plans, coordinates and manages the most complex financial projects.
Manages all aspects of financial projects according to project guidelines, budget, impact and scope, and strategic focus.
Prepares and presents reports to Finance and business leadership.
Makes recommendations for improving the financial results of the supported business unit/product and/or functional Finance area.
Analyzes proposed transactions for acceptability and desirability from a financial point of view.
Leads studies and makes recommendations regarding business unit/company position on specialized financial actions such as investment income, systems, growth support model, corporate financial reporting, cash flow reporting, internal controls and self-assessment, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reinsurance contracts, etc.
Maintains awareness of major developments in the insurance and financial services industries and regulatory agencies.
Provides financial counsel and assistance to other functional areas on special projects or programs as assigned or requested.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
