About The Position

This role involves the implementation and management of programs and courses designed to meet the needs of learners requiring multiple pathways through high school, facilitating transitions to post-secondary institutions and/or the workforce. The position also includes budget creation and management, policy monitoring and support (e.g., Safety guidelines for Community Based Learning, Phys Ed Safety Guidelines, Adventure Trips), and overall communication and program development with schools, partners, and stakeholders. These stakeholders include the Nova Scotia Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, agencies serving youth (Health, Justice, Community Services), NSCC and other secondary institutions, apprenticeship programs, employers, the community, and other AVRSB consultants in various departments.

Requirements

  • Valid Nova Scotia Teaching License.
  • Minimum 5 years successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of or experience in experiential, community-based programming, and career-based education.
  • Exemplary teaching experience at the high school level, especially in career-based or community-based programming, experiential learning, adventure education, and/or physical education.
  • Knowledge of the high school curriculum and programs including Co-op Education, Options and Opportunities (O2), Technology Education, Skilled Trades and Family Studies, Business Education, and Physical Education.
  • Training and/or experience in program implementation and/or curriculum development.
  • Experience in organizing and facilitating professional development.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with effective planning, differentiated instruction and balanced assessment.
  • Excellent leadership, team building, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to initiate and follow through on tasks and priorities.
  • Well-developed decision-making and creative problem-solving ability.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with partner agencies serving youth.
  • Experience managing lead teams in the implementation of site-level projects and high school curriculum.
  • Experience managing budgets.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters degree with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction preferred.

Responsibilities
