About The Position

The Consultant works closely with the Group Retirement Services team to understand client needs and priorities. You will be responsible for developing strategic relationships with key account contacts. This role may be based out of our Vancouver or Burnaby office location. The locations are both easily accessible by SkyTrain and transit with many shops, restaurants and other amenities nearby.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education required and completion of (or working towards) related courses in group benefits (CEBS, GBA designations preferred)
  • Life Insurance (LLQP) License or willing to obtain
  • 5+ years of Employee Benefits Insurance Experience, group retirement experience is an asset
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Office knowledge, with focus on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Understand client needs, priorities and culture
  • Develop strategic relationships with key account contacts
  • Identify gaps and opportunities within your client’s current structure based on their guiding principles
  • Oversee the complete retirement plan service cycle: plan design review, provider search, implementation, reporting, plan pricing negotiations, plan governance process, employee communication
  • Communicate relevant industry trends to your client block to prepare them for long term planning
  • Design and deliver presentations to clients, lead client meetings as well as member one-on-one meetings and employee presentations
  • Review all client facing materials
  • Work closely with insurance partnerships by assisting with problem solving, negotiating fees and maintaining positive relationships
  • Collaborate with the business development team and leadership team on shared client knowledge and insights
  • Working with the client to resolve escalated administrative, contractual and financial issues
  • Keep CRM up-to-date with changes and additions
  • Identify any new GRS opportunities for the retirement practice
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
