About The Position

At ERM, you won’t just support projects—you’ll help drive them forward, working alongside experienced professionals on some of the most challenging demolition, decontamination, and remediation efforts across North America. As a Consultant, Environmental Construction, you play a critical role in safely transforming contaminated and industrial sites into spaces ready for reuse. Your work helps clients manage risk, meet regulatory requirements, and move forward with confidence—while supporting ERM’s mission to deliver sustainable, practical solutions for complex environmental challenges. You’ll be a key contributor to field execution and construction management for demolition, decommissioning, and remediation projects across oil & gas, industrial manufacturing, and power generation facilities. From planning and cost estimating to contractor oversight and safety leadership, your decisions directly influence project outcomes, schedule adherence, and safe site performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
  • 1–3 years of experience in environmental engineering, remediation, or construction management consulting
  • Hands-on experience supporting construction or remediation sites (DDD experience strongly valued)
  • Experience preparing work plans, managing field activities, and contributing to technical documentation and reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety requirements and protocols
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with demolition, decommissioning, and decontamination (DDD) projects
  • Familiarity with contractor oversight, bid packages, and cost estimating
  • Exposure to construction quality assurance (CQA) or construction management services

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute remediation and DDD construction projects, including design reviews, constructability assessments, cost estimates, and pre-construction coordination
  • Prepare remediation, construction, demolition, and decommissioning bid packages and engineering cost estimates
  • Provide day-to-day oversight of contractors, subcontractors, inspectors, and field staff to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of work
  • Monitor project progress, schedules, and site activities; identify risks and support timely resolution
  • Review contractor submittals such as RFIs, change orders, and compliance documentation
  • Serve as Field Safety Officer on assigned projects, developing and implementing site-specific Health & Safety Plans, conducting daily safety briefings, and maintaining safety records
  • Perform construction management and quality assurance services across earthwork, site restoration, remedial systems, and disposal facilities
  • Coordinate issue resolution arising from inspections or contract administration
  • Act as a liaison between field teams and ERM Project Managers, ensuring field execution aligns with project plans and specifications
  • Support client communication and participate in business development activities, including proposal development and project planning discussions
